Colm ‘Wooly’ Parkinson founded Smaller Fish GAA in January 2021.
The former Laois inter-county footballer quit his job in finance in 2011, returned to University and completed a Masters in Journalism in DCU.

He worked in Newstalk as a sideline reporter and co presenter before moving to JOE.ie to present his own show The GAA Hour.

After 5 years he decided to go it alone and Smaller Fish was born.

Why the name Smaller Fish?

Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald wasn’t happy with the referee after the drawn All Ireland hurling final in 2013 and in a fantastic post match interview he said, “It’s harder get the breaks when you’re the Smaller Fish”

A bit like us in Smaller Fish GAA, a small independently run media company up against the big traditional media outlets!

The podcast runs all year around bringing the best analysis, interviews & features. The shows are completely add free and independent of any media.

This is possible thanks to our monthly subscribers we call the ‘Extended Panel’.

“Parkinson has made a brilliant transition from Gen-X disenchanted ball player to energetic radio-man and he manages the rare trick of being irreverent while always respectful of players and managers”

Keith Duggan, The Irish Times.
